NewSchool Names Alumni and Faculty Member Dr. Eve Edelstein ‘Alumni of the Year’

SAN DIEGO –December 21, 2017– New School of Architecture & Design

NewSchool is proud to announce that Director, Human Experience Lab, Perkins+Will, NewSchool graduate and faculty Dr. Eve Edelstein (’06), has been named ‘Alumni of the Year’ award. Faculty nominate alums and the prestigious award was presented during its annual convocation ceremony.

Dr. Edelstein’s unique expertise and experience enables her to explore and measure the impact of design. Her four degrees include Anthropology from UC Berkeley, a master of science in neurophysiology, a PhD in clinical neuroscience from University College London, and finally, a full professional master of architecture from the NewSchool of Architecture & Design. She joined NewSchool just as Allison Whitelaw, John Eberhard, and Gil Cooke, then the Dean at NewSchool, launched the Academy of Neuroscience for Architecture. The introductory course in Neuro-Architecture grew to include an advanced course, independent studies, and now a full curricular program and Master Classes in euro-architecture and healthy urbanism. Dr. Edelstein’s contributions include research for the AIA College of Fellows Latrobe Prize and the Academy of Architecture for Health. She currently sits on the Board of ANFA, is advisor to the International Academy of Design + Health, co-founder of Clinicians for Design, and the Center of Healthy Environments (CHE) at NewSchool.
