In spring 2025, the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the American Council on Education (ACE)released the much-anticipated 2025 Carnegie Classifications. This updated framework introduced a groundbreaking new metric: the Student Access and Earnings Classification.

Ambow Education Holding Ltd. Subsidiary NewSchool of Architecture & Design Concludes AI Design Workshop and Design & Build Summer Intensive, Advancing AI-Powered Design Education for the Next Generation

Ambow Education (NYSE American: AMBO) announced that subsidiary NewSchool of Architecture & Design completed its four-day AI Design Workshop and Design & Build Summer Intensive in San Diego. From June 29–July 2, 2026, more than 30 students ages 14–17 explored AI-augmented architecture, design, and construction through hands-on studio learning, model-making, and a final project showcase.

The program aligns with Ambow’s HybriU™-driven strategy to expand AI literacy across youth, higher education, and professional training, and is expected to become a recurring AI-powered design initiative.

University of Arizona’s DBIA National Design-Build Student Competition Win Highlights Growing Role of Women in AEC

The DBIA National Design-Build Student Competition provides a rigorous introduction to the complexities of real-world project delivery. In 2024, 30 teams from 22 colleges and universities across the nation entered the competition, each tasked with solving a real-world-inspired challenge using design-build. After submitting initial responses to a Request for Qualifications (RFQ), only eight regional winners advanced to the second phase in which they responded to a Request for Proposals (RFP). The final three teams — Cardinal Design-Build from the University of Arizona, Rocky Mountain Design-Build from the University of Colorado Boulder and Altitude Design Development from the NewSchool of Architecture and Design — presented their proposals live to a panel of national industry judges at DBIA’s Design-Build Conference & Expo in Dallas, Texas, earlier this month.

Winners of the 2023 COTE Top Ten for Students Competition

The American Institute of Architects, Committee on the Environment (AIA COTE), in partnership with the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA), have selected the recipients of the 2023 AIA COTE Top Ten for Students Competition. The competition recognizes ten exceptional studio projects that demonstrate designs moving towards carbon-neutral operation through creative and innovative integration of design strategies such as daylighting, passive heating and cooling, materials, water, energy generation, and sustainable systems. The program challenged students to submit projects that use a thoroughly integrated approach to architecture, natural systems, and technology to provide architectural solutions that protect and enhance the environment.
