It is estimated that 1 in 8 people currently lack secure housing, and that number is expected to double by 2030. In 2014 two students traveled through South America to document the issues and innovations inherent to informal communities.
Join us for a documentary screening of Within Formal Cities, followed by a Q&A with Professor Denise de Alcantara Pereira from Universidade Federal Rural Rio de Janeiro’s Department of Architecture and Urbanism, who is featured in the film, and Professor Larry Herzog, from SDSU’s City Planning Department. A light lunch will be provided for all attendees.
