About Kurt
Professor Hunker FAIA, is a long-time member of the NewSchool faculty, elevated to Fellowship in the American Institute of Architects in 2013 for his contributions to architectural education. He is an Academic Regent of the AIA California Council and recipient of the Educator Award from the San Diego chapter of the AIA. As a consulting design architect, his projects have earned awards at the local state, regional and national levels. Hunker lectures internationally on topics ranging from the concept of spectacle in high-rise design to Alvar Aalto.
