Explore Our History

NewSchool of Architecture & Design has a rich history of accommodating working students through its evening class structure. The institution received institutional accreditation in 1991, attracting mid-career professionals seeking a career change due to the flexible afternoon and evening schedules offered for architecture degree programs.

NewSchool obtained regional accreditation from the WASC Senior College and University Commission in 2014. Additionally, in 2016, the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) granted NewSchool an 8-year re-accreditation for its Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Architecture programs.

NewSchool’s vision is to be a leading provider of architecture and design education focused on improving the quality of life in the built and natural environments on both the local and global scales as informed by nature, supported by research, focused on professional practice, and committed to sustainability.

Our Mission

The mission of NewSchool of Architecture & Design is to nurture and inspire design-minded students. NewSchool graduates demonstrate a firm foundation of critical thinking, ethical behavior, and a culture of professional practice on their way to becoming socially responsible leaders of change for our global society.

The NewSchool campus is rich in diversity.
