Discover our vibrant design community in San Diego! At NewSchool, residence life is a unique, enriching experience. In addition to our housing at 707 Loft, we offer a variety of housing options depending on your preference in location, pricing and length of stay.

NewSchool Housing

NewSchool of Architecture & Design partners with a local apartment complex to provide safe and convenient housing options for our students. The apartment building is located one block from campus, and students residing in the NewSchool housing units will have the added benefit of a Residence Advisor available to assist them. Effective in Fall 2017, NewSchool housing units are offered as a 12-month lease, from October 2017 to September 2018.

The Lofts at 707 Tenth

Located just one block away from campus, The Lofts at 707 Tenth offer a hip urban residence life opportunity for our students.

The modern community features a top floor viewing deck of downtown San Diego, a private movie theater, state-of-the-art fitness facilities, large interior courtyard with fire pit, business tech center and gated underground parking. It’s conveniently located in the heart of the East Village, easily accessible to public transportation, shopping, beaches, and San Diego’s vibrant night life.

Our two-bedroom apartments accommodate up to four students. Each furnished apartment has two bathrooms, a full kitchen, and a washer and dryer. Additional amenities are available, but vary by apartment and are not guaranteed. Gated underground parking is available for an additional fee on a space-available basis.

Dedicated, live-in staff serves as your first point of contact. Our Residence Life team is committed to providing students with opportunities for collaborative learning, academic success and lifelong friendships. They can answer questions, help you with your transition to NewSchool and living on your own, and be a resource if you are new to San Diego.

Ava at Cortez Hill

Ava at Cortez Hill offers a convenient and affordable housing option for NewSchool students through our partnership with San Diego Student Housing. The building has many attractive amenities, including a freshly redesigned pool/jacuzzi/BBQ area, fitness room, roof-top basketball court, tennis court, on-site laundry room, and game and community rooms. There is also a convenience store on the ground level of the building.

All students will live in fully furnished 2-bedroom, 2-bath apartments with two students per bedroom. Although Ava at Cortez Hill is not staffed with NewSchool resident advisors, the building has a large student community from various local universities and roommate matching is done by gender, age and lifestyle. The housing application is coordinated through San Diego Student Housing.

Studio 819

Studio 819 is another housing option offering furnished apartments in the traditional hotel style with daily, weekly, and monthly rates. It is located in the heart of Hillcrest, right next to downtown San Diego, allowing you to enjoy the walkable neighborhood full of cafés, restaurants, and shops. Studio 819 is just minutes away from freeway access. Nearby attractions include Sea World, San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, the Gas Lamp Quarter, Petco Park, Sea Port Village, Qualcomm Stadium, Old Town, and many more.
