NewSchool Announces Professional Online Certificates

NewSchool of Architecture & Design Announces Professional Online Certificates for Digital Design and Communication, Entrepreneurship, and Design Management; curriculum developed from a unique collaboration between NewSchool and experts from around the world. NewSchool of Architecture & Design has enhanced its online offerings by launching three new certificate programs focused on Digital Design and Communication, Entrepreneurship for the Creative Professions and Design Management.

NewSchool’s online classes taught by experienced faculty, who are both educators and industry professionals, enable students of all ages to have the flexibility of choosing where and when to continue their education; they can also expand their perspectives and network by learning with other students around the world.

The global perspective of the online curriculum, which focuses on developing students’ skills and knowledge required in today’s workforce, is the result of a unique collaboration between NewSchool and experts from around the world. For example, both the Design Management and the Entrepreneurship for the Creative Professions certificate programs were developed under the guidance of Elena Pacenti, Director of Domus Academy of Design at NewSchool. She worked closely with faculty experts from the globally acclaimed Domus Academy School of Design in Milan, Italy. Similarly, faculty with the Media Design School of Digital Arts at NewSchool spearheaded the establishment of the Digital Design and Communications certificate program. They worked closely with their faculty counterparts at the internationally-recognized Media Design School in Auckland, New Zealand.

“The new programs, designed to enhance students’ creative skillsets and maximize their potential for career advancement, will be popular among working adult professionals who want to earn a certificate via a short, convenient stand-alone program,” said Greg Marick, president of NewSchool. “They will also enhance the options available to current NewSchool students, who can earn a certificate concurrently with their degrees if they so choose.”

NewSchool’s online students will also receive access to Frontier, https://www.wearethefrontier.com/, an interactive community for designers and design-minded individuals. This convenient learning resource is accessible from the students’ online classroom and gives them a private portfolio tool hosted indefinitely on Frontier. Here students can share portfolios, receive peer feedback, obtain exposure for their creativity, and showcase their work to prospective employers.

Registration for the programs is now open for the next start date, April 6, 2015. For details, including information on tuition and scholarship availability, contact Erika Pixley-Keith at (443) 627-7237 or at ekeith@newschoolarch.edu.
