Our world is changing at a pace faster than ever before. Significant urban population growth is predicted over the next decades, which points to a high demand for housing. The world is in a phase of urbanizing at a rate unprecedented in human history. There is growing scarcity of shelter, food, water and energy. Transformations in environmental, technological, political, economic and social realms are reshaping our environments, our society, and our lives. The key to a better world calls for a generation that views these challenges as opportunities.

Are the architecture programs providing the right knowledge required for design? Are the educators prepared for the emerging pedagogical challenge? How can we inspire our students to open their minds? How can we prepare them to think for present conditions and to plan for the future? What are the new ways of thinking? How can architecture inform other disciplines?
