Steps to Apply
- Write an essay answering the following prompt:
Recall a time in which you needed to accomplish something with limited time and resources. How would you define “DIY”? How has skateboarding taught you the virtues or principles of that DIY ethos?
- Get a copy of your unofficial transcript (or its equivalent) showing your most recent cumulative GPA
- Create a portfolio — show us your best work

NewSchool’s CSEF College Skateboarding Scholarship
CSEF has created a category in the world of skateboarding, encouraging the pursuit of higher education amongst young skaters all over the country. With approximately 250 applicants and seven scholarship recipients in its first year, CSEF is proud to partner with NewSchool of Architecture & Design to reach skateboarders interested in studying architecture, design, and construction management.
College Skateboarding Educational Foundation (CSEF)
College Skateboarding Educational Foundation encourages the pursuit of higher education for skateboarders by awarding college scholarships to student skaters all over the United States. Given the strong culture of skateboarding and the lessons learned from its activity, skateboarders are fantastic problem solvers, future leaders, and more and more often, college-educated! CSEF currently offers scholarships to skateboarders in all 50 states and continues to spread the narrative of educated skateboarders by partnering with schools like NewSchool of Architecture & Design.
