The Center for Academic and Student Success

What We Do

The Center for Academic and Student Success provides programs and services to enhance the learning experience of all students at NewSchool within a welcoming and engaging environment. Throughout the year, The Center offers workshops, tutoring, and a variety of other kinds of support. Our goal is to help make every student successful here at NewSchool and beyond.

Who We Are

The Center includes Peer and Faculty Tutoring Services, Disability Services, the English Language Program and the International Student Advocacy Office. Outside of open walk-in hours, please email or stop by one of our offices to schedule a tutoring appointment. Walk-ins will be accommodated whenever possible.


English Language Program: Offers tutoring and language-related support for English language learners as well as native speakers. International Student Advocacy Office: Support for international students adjusting to life in the U.S. and locating resources. English: Writing, reading, speaking and listening walk-in tutoring hours: T/Th 11:30am-12:30pm Room: M-205


Math and Science Tutoring: Tutoring for Intermediate Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Statistics, Physics I, Physics II, Statics, and Structures I. Physics walk-in tutoring hours: M/W 9-10am Room: M-206. Intermediate Algebra walk-in tutoring hours: M/W 10-11:30am Room: M-206


Disability Services: Works with students with documented disabilities to provide ADA accommodations on campus and with the campus community to reduce barriers and increase accessibility.


Writing Tutoring: Tutoring for native and non-native speakers on writing, from organizing an essay, to creating a thesis statement, to understanding sentence construction. Writing walk-in tutoring hours: Fridays 8-4pm Room: M-206

The Center and Project LEAD Winter 2017 Workshops

Each quarter The Center offers workshops to help you succeed personally and academically at NewSchool and beyond. No registration is needed, just stop by. Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) is an integral component of student success! The Division of Student Affairs is delivering an innovative leadership workshop series designed to help you identify your potential and develop leadership skills. Project LEAD will empower you to think critically and creatively, and prepare you for the vast opportunities that await you in your professional careers.
