The Center Workshops

Each quarter The Center offers workshops to help you succeed personally and academically at NewSchool and beyond. No registration is needed, just stop by. New workshops will be offered in Fall 2017. Please see below for a sampling of last quarter’s sessions.

Effective Reading

Wednesday, April 19th, 12–12:50pm, Cliff May
Have you ever finished reading a chapter for school and realized that you don’t remember what you read? Do you have trouble getting all your reading assignments done? Learn two different and very important kinds of skills: how to read closely and carefully for understanding and how to skim and scan quickly to find information.

Digital File Management

Wednesday, May 17th, 12-12:50pm, Cliff May
Many students find themselves struggling to organize digital documents, files, and projects. This lack of organization creates chaos and frustration when attempting to locate new, old, and archived files and gets even more complicated when cloud-based storage is also used. Learn strategies for digital de-cluttering to get your files in order.

Understanding Perfectionism

Thursday, June 1st, 12-12:50pm, Richard Requa
Do you procrastinate because you feel your assignments need to be perfect? Do you have relentlessly high expectations of yourself that are getting in your way? This workshop will cover topics such as recognizing perfectionism and tools to change perfectionistic behavior.
