The NewSchool Lecture Series in association with Alumni Relations presents a Pecha Kucha presentation, followed by a panel discussion and Q&A with recent NewSchool graduates who have pursued a variety of paths in the design industry.

Discussants include:

TECTURE DESIGN + FABRICATION | Ryan Carpenter (M.Arch 2012) & David Michael (M.Arch 2011)

After graduating from the Masters of Architecture program at NewSchool in 2011, David Michael, Kyle Preish and Slade Fischer founded their own design firm Tecture. Their work quickly began making a statement all over San Diego, from design/build projects such as the Patio on Goldfinch and the newly opened Kettner Exchange, to an installation in the San Diego International Airport. www.tectureinc.com.

ALLIANCE BUILDERS | Stephen Mann (M.Arch ‘12) & Joshua Liebman (M.Arch ‘12)

Alliance is one of the largest private U.S. multifamily companies with offices nationally. After graduating from NewSchool, Stephen went to work as an on-site project engineer with Alliance Residential on the Broadstone Corsiar project in Kearny Mesa, a 360-unit multi-family apartment building. He is currently the Assistant Project Manager for the Broadstone Maker Corner. Joshua Liebman began his career with Alliance as a Project Engineer for the Broadstone Little Italy. In 2014, he was on the design team for the Broadstone Coronado on the Bay, a MFE Magazine Renovation Project of the Year 2016. He is currently working on Broadstone North Park as Assistant Project Manager. www.allresco.com.

BASILE STUDIOS AND MILLER | HULL ARCHITECTS | RT Lonsdale (M.Arch 2011)

Lonsdale graduated with a MARCH from NewSchool in 2005. He earned an undergraduate degree in Architecture from University of Maryland in 2002. RT worked for Basile Studio from 2010 to 2014 as a Design Director on projects ranging from creative offices and retail to restaurants. He started off collaborating on feasibility studies for commercial real estate agents for potential leasing tenants, which turned into a full scale design-build studio employing 30 people specializing in every aspect of the process from conceptual design to digital fabrication to wood joinery and traditional construction methods. In 2014 joined the San Diego office of Miller Hull where he is a Project Architect. He is currently the lead designer supervising construction of a $70M renovation of the San Diego Zoo set to open in June of this year.
