I was born in Washington D.C. but spent most of my life growing up in the Detroit suburbs. I’m a city boy used to noisy crowds and drawing inspiration from the city streets. Art has been a constant presence in my life. As a child, pencil and paper became my entrance into a world of imagination. My family encouraged my love of art and some of my first lessons were from my grandmother. I guess you could say artistic talent courses through my family’s bloodline. Generations have been connected with art in one way or another.
I studied Animation at The Center for Creative Studies in Detroit before transferring to a state school. I continued to study art at Western Michigan University where I completed my BFA with a concentration in Digital Media. So if you’re faced with the dilemma of choosing whether to study at a smaller school or larger state university, please come to me for advice. I’m happy to help!
After college I moved back to Detroit where I served as a consulting artist for a publishing agency. 6 years ago I moved to sunny San Diego and wouldn’t trade it for anything. The last few years, I have been occupied with less art but equally inspiring; education. Working for the NewSchool of Architecture and Design is a dream as I have the opportunity to help inspiring artists live out their own dreams!
In the rare hours that I’m not at NewSchool, you can find me volunteering at dog adoptions on the weekends. I also enjoy being active, hiking with my dog, backpacking, listening to live music and riding the emotional rollercoaster that is life as fan of Detroit sports teams. Though the path of college remains clouded by the mysterious mist of the future, of one thing I’m sure, my college experiences I can share with you. My hope is that I can help lead you in the right direction!
