Vivian Sanchez has served as Chair of the school’s Board of Directors for three years.
Ms. Sanchez brings a wealth of higher education experience to her leadership role at NewSchool. Having worked in public research universities in the United States and private institutions in nine countries, Ms. Sanchez offers NewSchool a global insight into higher education for both campus-based and pioneering digital learning. In her previous roles as President and Senior Administrator in higher education, Ms. Sanchez guided institutions to achieving national recognitions, attracting world-class faculty and implementing innovative technology solutions for academic instruction and student support. Through affiliations with top ranked universities and strong industry connections, Ms. Sanchez has demonstrated her student-centered approach by providing unique academic experiences that ensure each student is prepared for a global, competitive market.
Ms. Sanchez has led Laureate Design Universities for the past three years and recently was appointed CEO of Laureate’s specialty institutions. Prior to joining NewSchool and Laureate, Ms. Sanchez served as president of Whitney University System, a university network enrolling more than 65,000 students across five higher education institutions. She formerly served as chief financial officer and senior vice president of administration at Florida International University—one of the 25 largest public research universities in the United States—and served as advisor to the president of Cleveland State University.
Ms. Sanchez earned her MBA at Harvard Business School where she received the Dean’s Award for Extraordinary Contribution and her B.S. in Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
